Dr. Julie Ficarra
Associate Professor of the Practice and Faculty Fellow in Engaged Learning, Department of Global Development, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University
Relationship with Study Abroad: Prior to my current appointment at Cornell, I spent 10 years working in study abroad administration for a number of universities in the U.S. Now, I lead Globally Engaged Learning initiatives for the Global Development Department, which includes the development of faculty-led study abroad program and partnerships for international internship placements. Additionally, I have published research on the impact of study abroad on host communities and am an active member of the Forum in Education Abroad.
Envisioned Contribution to GC-SARA: I hope to help facilitate research connections between study abroad scholars and administrators, and to leverage the resources of institutions in the global North to support collaborative research that focuses on the experiences and voices of researchers and administrators of International Education and the global South.
